Mike and Melissa’s big day started off with Melissa getting ready at a hotel in Silverdale, WA. After she was done there, she met her soon-to-be husband, Mike, in Port Gamble for the first look. We walked around the old, scenic town of Port Gamble for photos of the couple and photos of their bridal party.
After a good walk around town, we headed to St. Paul’s church to get ready for the big ceremony. Before the ceremony, Mike and Melissa thought it would be fun for them to touch a sign before they went down the aisle, in the same way Notre Dame’s football team touches a sign on their way out of the stadium tunnel to play their game. The sign for the football game reads: “Play like a champion today”. Mike and Melissa did a spinoff of this sign as you can find below.
During the ceremony, I was wondering if the flower girl was going to make it down the aisle okay since she was so young. They set her up to go but she decided to have a seat in the aisle. Just another funny flower girl mishap at another wedding.
Other than the flower girl not making it down the aisle, the ceremony went well. Mike and Melissa tied the knot, literally, as you can see from the photos below.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds went upstairs in the church and rang the bell that was attached to a rope. After they exited the church, they led the bagpiper down the sidewalk towards the Hood Canal Vista Pavilion while everyone else followed the bagpiper as he played traditional music for the occasion. Once everyone got to the pavilion, it was time to party with good appetizers and drinks. The rest of the evening was celebrated with a buffet dinner, dancing, and drinking.
A big thank you goes out to my 2nd photographer, Jared, and to Mike and Melissa for trusting me as their wedding photographer for their special day. Congratulations to Mike and Melissa!!!
